Leelanau Energy - Meeting and Featured Speaker
After a greeting and brief business, we will welcome Dr. Hal May, of the Andlinger Center for Energy & Environment at Princeton University. Dr. May's talk is titled, Methane, Peril and Promise?
When organic matter, such as food, agriculture, human and animal waste decomposes, it can release a blend of greenhouse gases, primarily methane and carbon dioxide.
If released into the atmosphere, these greenhouse gases accelerate global warming. However, methane can be captured and utilized as zero-carbon fuel - destroying it in the process - and turning waste that would otherwise contribute to global warming into a significant opportunity to be a key driver of the world’s de-carbonization strategy.
